On Give to the Max Day in 2014, Savage Umbrella was incredibly lucky to win a $20,000 Golden Ticket. We took that money and invested in SPACE, a rehearsal and presentation space for us and the local theater community.
As of January 31, 2017, we said goodbye to SPACE (for now). Savage Umbrella is focusing on partnerships, collaborations, and new adventures. Read more about this on our blog.
Also, you can read about SPACE's beginnings on the blog.
The mission of SPACE is to foster the creation of new work,
to support the work of performing artists,
and to facilitate community conversations.
"We've been extremely happy with SPACE and don't miss an opportunity to recommend it to our fellow performers.
It's in a convenient location and the reasonable rates make it easy to lease for longer term projects."
Adam Litz, Minnesota Snow Job
"I've been using the SPACE to rehearse on my own in between rehearsing with the director.
It's been so great having an affordable place to go away from distraction to review blocking and text."
Taous Khazem, New Arab American Theatre Works
"This is a great space. It’s large and flexible for a variety of configurations."
Amy Zajack, God Takes a Holiday
"We needed work tables and chairs in a big, open space for not a lot of money. SPACE provided.
We were also eager to use a workspace that belongs to our friends at Savage Umbrella. We like to share. The building itself is...awesome.
One of our artists stopped in at five other studios to see what was going on before she made it up to SPACE."
Andrew Gaylord, PlaceBase Productions
